Fun Fun and More Fun

I thought I should start out with a picture to make everyone laugh. Al and I were sitting in traffic on the 5 when Al spotted this guy. All of the sudden traffic didn't matter and I was like NO WAY!! How in the world is that guy riding a bullet bike? How is that bike even moving? Those are all questions I asked myself when I saw him. Trying to be discrete I quickly pulled out my camera and zoomed in as fast as I could. At least he's wearing a helmet.
Al and I went to the Red Bull Flugtag competition in Long Beach last Saturday. I stole all the following pictures from various websites. Although we were there it was hard to see anything because there were thousands and thousands of people EVERYWHERE!! 2 words to describe the competition....Hot and crowded. Next time I'm for sure watching it on tv. I can't handle large groups of smelly sweaty people standing too close to me anymore.

I'm not sure if any of the planes actually flew or if they all just went straight down as soon as they went off the ramp.
On Saturday night we went to the Cary Brothers concert at the Troubadour. The first time I watched Garden State and heard Blue Eyes I immediately became a Cary Brothers fan. I always envisioned there being 2 or 3 brothers, but Cary Brothrs is actually his name...lol

Cary was sooo good and concerts at the Troubadour are awesome. and here he is singing ride which is also another one of his big hits.

My mom and Matthew were in Carlsbad for his son's wedding so we got to meet up with them on Sunday and spend the day with them. We had breakfast at Broken Yolk Cafe which came highly recommended on Yelp. Thank you Yelp for helping me find another yummy restaurant.
After breakfast we went and hung out at Carlsbad Beach which was beautiful. We looked really cool in our jeans. Of course it was a perfect beach day and I didn't have my swimsuit.

All of us.....It was so much fun to spend the day with them. Too bad it's always sad to say goodbye, but that's ok because we will be in Utah next weekend. Yayyyyy so excited. I don't know if Al will be able to get me to come back to California.

Every Wednesday during the month of August The Grove and Americana have free concerts. Last Wednesday Natasha Bedingfield was performing so Al and I went to check her out. She was so cute and had a ton of songs I didn't even know she sang.

She loved to flip her hair back and forth.

I really went to hear her sing Unwritten (The Hills theme song), but we only stayed an hour and I'm sure that was her last song.

Yesterday Al and I found a new breakfast place in La Canada and then he talked me into playing golf with him. Too bad there was a tournament and he had to settle for the driving range.

Afterwards we went to Manhattan Beach and what was a perfect day in the valley turned out to be a cloudy day at the beach. It was great napping weather until the loudest group ever sat 2 ft away from us. It always happens and it always has to be someone with a really loud voice that seems to know everything.
There was a huge volleyball tournament going on.
I must not forget our trips to the grocery store. We live on the 4th floor and Al will never let me take two trips to the car even if that means cutting the circulation off on your arms to get all the groceries up in one trip!! What a good husband.

Book Soup

You most likely know her as a house wife of NYC, Jill Zarin. She had a book signing in Hollywood tonight and of course I went!! She looks amazing in person, so skinny, beautiful hair, and teeth. It was great because there was only like 20 people there. She had a Q&A session and no one asked anything.....Bueller Bueller anyone?? So I piped up and asked like 5 in a row....lol There were definately some interesting people there. She-mans front and center with hairy arms and pretty wigs.
Honestly I probably wouldn't have ever read her book "Secrets of A Jewish Mother", but now I feel like I need to since I had to buy it. Hopefully Secrets of A Jewish Mother and a Mormon Mother are similar, hahah.
I did such a great job asking questions Time Warner Cable interviewed me after. I'm totally famous now.
I don't think Al could have taken a worse picture of me, but this is all I got. My only question to her while she was signing my book was if she would come cheer for Al in the NYC marathon. Of course she said YES!! I love you Jill.
On the way home I spotted a taco truck and had to stop.Al always teases me because I use all the toppings like it's a salad bar, but that's the best part!!

I'm Back

I guess you could say I took a little vacation from the blogging world. I've been more into reading about other peoples lives than writing about my own. I will start where I left off which is when Al left for a big sales event for work. They chose OC for this one, so he only had an hour drive instead of a long flight to the east coast. He tried to tell me that it was going to be a long week, but then I googled pictures of the resort they were staying at and found these. I can't say I had much sympathy. Terranea Resort in Ranchos Palos Verdes. While he was golfing, riding his bike to the beach, and supposedly sitting in meetings I was slaving away at work.

I was a little bored while he was away. I have to admit I maybe even got a little homesick for family and friends. I'm still taking applications for girlfriends.....I know there is someone in LA like me, I just need to look harder.

I went to see Inception for our work party and they took us to the most amazing movie theater ever. We got to watch it on the "Premier Level" which is an exclusive 21 and over theater with oversized seats, a restaurant, a bar, and free popcorn( included with the $20 ticket) with self serve butter(that was my favorite part). I guess you could say I'm easily amused these days. Look how great the seats are. Movies will never be the same unless I go to this theater. I also must say Inception is the best movie I have seen in years. The writer is my new hero, what an incredible mind. Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange. I loved it so much I went with Al again the following weekend. Only this time it wasn't as good, but I did catch a lot of little things I missed the first time.
Last weekend Al and I went to Seal Beach after Inception. Beach weather has still not improved and it only gets to a high of 70. I can't believe how many people were actually laying out and swimming in the water. I was in jeans and a cardigan and that was perfect. I guess I just need to accept the fact that it's not going to be hot at the beach this summer and enjoy it while I can. Seal Beach was one of the more interesting beaches I've been to. If you look at the background of this pic you can see the industrial part of Long Beach. There was definatley Spicy Mango and Boogie Boards being sold.

There were so many people fishing. Some were actually really close to the swimmers which can't be good if their hook catches on someone. Yikes

On Wednesday night I went to dinner with my friend Joanna that was in town from Utah. We had dinner at Vibrato Grill & Jazz in Bel Air.
Neither of us are huge fans of Jazz music, so I'm not sure why we ended up eating here....lol

The food was over priced and the entertainment was ok. It was fun spending time with Joanna and catching up in person instead of on Facebook.

Today Al and I had the best lunch ever at Alcove Cafe & Bakery. It was on my list of restaurants to try that I saw on The Hills. Apparently a lot of famous people eat here, but it was so busy it would have been hard to spot anyone. It's this cute little Cafe nesltled in L.A.

It's great because they serve breakfast all day long. They have amazing salads, sandwiches, paninis, wraps, and of course desserts.

Most of the seating is outside and it worked out perfect because it was a beautiful day.I went with the grilled chicken sandwich, house salad

and lemonade. It was fabulous.
After lunch we decided to take advantage of the pool we never use. For once there was nobody out there and it was soooo nice Al and I both took a nap in the sun. A great way to end a Saturday. I promise Al's not that white....lol
