Memorial Day Weekend

Al went golfing at the Rose Bowl a couple weeks ago and discovered the Rose Bowl loop which is a loop around the Rose Bowl and golf course that tons of people walk and run. He also discovered that the runners go in the morning and the walkers/lazy people go around 10am. We decided to join the running crowd and went Saturday morning. I knew it was going to be a good day when I spotted the rainbow umbrella and if you read my blog you will know that is a SPICY FRUIT cart. There are so many people that walk, run, and bike the loop and all of them wear Lululemon. I still need to convince Al that Lululemon is better than Nike.
It was such a beautiful day
Hooray for running the loop
Get ready for the best picture ever. This guy was just casually running with 55lb weights....no big deal.
Later that day we made our way to the OC and stopped for lunch at Chick-Fil-A.....the perfect meal for a day at the beach.
We went to Inspiration Point in Newport with Celia and Aaron. This beach was PACKED....it was crazy.
Aaron
Me enjoying the sun and beach.....two of my favorite things besides Al
The hairiest back I've ever seen. Sorry to anyone that has a husband/boyfriend with a hairy back....not really my thing.
Al and Aaron played football and frisbee for hours. Usually he is bugging me to play, so it was nice to have someone there to fill in for me.

This cove was packed with people and I have no idea what they were doing. Aaron and his sweet Barack Obama frisbee

Inspiration Point after rush hour
There were so many beautiful flowers by the beach and they all smelled amazing.
How cool are the trees on this road?
That night we stayed in Dana Point at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott. The hotel was awesome and we had a great view of the ocean from our balcony.

We walked through the Harbor the next morning and laughed at all the boat names.

Later that day we went to Thousand Steps in Laguna. My friend Tonya who needs to move back to California took me there a few years ago. It is one of the best beaches I've been to in California and it's never busy. The only bad thing is when you have to walk back up the stairs when you're done.

Look how great this beach is.....plenty of sand for everyone, so you don't have to share a towell with your neighbors.
Our new house
The new beach game....Spider
These trees are everywhere in LA right now and I have no idea what kind they are. The purple blossoms are all over the grass and roads and I love them.
For Memorial Day we went to Sean and Jills parents house in Long Beach for a BBQ/Pool Party
Al and his poor sun burned feet
Jill
Everyone enjoying their Big Stick popsicles which is apparently "the" popsicle to eat out here. I would compare it to Creamies in Utah....no one probably knows what Creamies are here...lolAl and I are playing on a Co-ed Softball team with some other couples in our ward this summer. We had a little practice session in Target after Al found me the perfect glove.
Black & Pink. It's perfect. Now I just have to catch the ball!
To complete our Memorial Day Weekend we had a Skeeball competition at Chuck E Cheese....Where A Kid Can Be A Kid.
It was pretty random, but awesome at the same time.
It's good I had lots of practice playing Skee Ball on my iPhone because I won. I knew it would come in handy someday!!

Happy Memorial Day!!

Happy Birthday Al

Happy Happy Birthday Al. Last Thursday was Al's BIG 27th Birthday. I made suprise dinner reservations at The Lobster in Santa Monica. I was so bummed because it rained all day, but on my way home from work it cleared up. You could see blue sky over downtown L.A. which is so rare. It turned out to be a perfect evening.
When your rent is more than a mortgage you too will get a balloon and bag of candy for your birthday.
The Lobster in Santa Monica also where Khloe Kardashian & Lamar Odom had their rehersal dinner, but you would know that if you watched the show:)
We had the best seat in the restaurant. It was so awesome.
The pier in the background

The best Yellowtail sashimi EVER!! It had jalapenos, cilantro, chunks of lime, tomatoes, and some sort of edible flower. It was full of Amazingness.
Oyster sampler platter with 4 different kinds of Oysters which were all delicous.
My delicous WILD Salmon which is so much better than Farmed
Al getting excited for his Surf & Turf birthday dinner
Filet Mignon with lobster and lobster mashed potatoes.
Us....look how hot Al is as a 27 year old
It was the best birthday dinner. The back of The Lobster and full moon in the distance.
I had big plans afterwards to go ride the Ferris Wheel on the pier, but everything was closed. I've never seen the pier so dead....we were like 2 of the 20 people on it.
We walked all the way down there and this is what we saw..... a big bright Ferris Wheel with no one on it. It was kind of like a creepy deserted carnival. For some reason it reminded me of Charlottes Web where Templeton wanders the carnival all night. hahah random
It was a great night and so much fun to spend time with Al for his birthday. Happy Birhtday Al!!
