Mostly Alex

Most of my pictures these days are of Alex and about 75% are taken on my iPhone. It's so convenient for all those moments you don't want to miss while you're looking for your camera.  He recently started acting really interested in food, phew I was getting worried.  I made spaghetti a couple weeks ago and he loved it.  He's still not great about chewing so I pureed a bunch and then froze some for lunches and dinners.

I haven't really given him sugar so he was in heaven.  Most of those bites were mine, but he definitely got a sugar high.

He loves to eat or should I say drink Go Go Squeezes.  He can suck them down in about 10 seconds.

He still falls asleep in his car seat once in a while.  Love him

We found a big random fork in Pasadena so naturally I stopped and took pictures.

Bath time is definitely his favorite time of the day.

His favorite snack as of late is Trader Joe's Animal Cookies.....totally healthy :)

We also Skype with my mom and Ryan a lot, but I haven't figured out how to take pics yet.  It's hard to remember what life was like without an iPhone:) 

Our Days

Our blog may appear as if we are never home and always on the go. Believe it or not we spend a lot of time at home. Nothing is better than being in your own home especially when everything is clean :)  I bought Alex a walker a couple weeks ago and he cruises around our house with it.  He needs to work on steering a little, but he loves it.  This week he took a few steps on his own, so exciting!!

My sweet little baby still sleeps on me sometimes.

Our ward starts at 11 now, so Sundays are pretty lazy until about 9am.  We watch TV while Alex watches Baby Einstein on the iPad.  

I showed Alex how to bang spoons on pots and pans.  He was pretty impressed.

We have been expanding our board game collection and recently invested in Settlers Of Catan which we love.  If anyone wants to come over and play, call me.

Ten Months

At Ten Months Alex is.....

Into everything!!

If you put something in his mouth without a spoon he will take it back out to examine it and then put it back in if he likes it.

He loves to take showers and it all started in Hawaii when he had sand everywhere.

He loves to watch kids play

He has to do everything himself with books and food.  He isn't really into books yet.  I will try to read to him and he takes the book out of my hands and wants to open and close it.

Makes smacking noises while you eat and just learned how to click his tongue.

Changing diapers are getting tricky because as soon as that diaper is off he immediately reaches for you know what.

Knows how to give five, clap, and we are working on waving.

His first word was definitely dada....we aren't sure if he knows what it means yet.  He also says hey a lot especially if you say it back to him.

Knows how to turn lights off and on.  

Bought him a walker and walks all over the house. Will let go of things he's holding on and just stand there for about 10 seconds.  He started taking steps the last few days.

At about 9.5 months I finally buckled down and promised myself I was going to feed him consistent meals through the day to try and slowly wean him by 1 year which has gone great.  He has shown a huge interest in food lately and will usually try anything.  He loves spaghetti which I pureed a ton of and froze into cubes.  He loves sweet potatoes and I mix in carrots since he won't eat those plain.  He has recently tried pizza, Popsicle's, and white chocolate dipped marshmallows thanks to Sachia :)

He loves Go Go Squeeze and would only eat Apple and Pear for awhile, but is starting to try the mixed ones.

When I put him to bed I feed him and then he lays on me for a bit and then I put him in his crib with his blankets and elephant that plays twinkle twinkle little star, so sweet.

Loves to hang upside down

Al recently started playing I'm going to get you with him and he laughs and screams, too funny.  

I started taking him to the Kids Club at the gym last week and he seems to enjoy it.  I'm not a huge fan of all the germs there, but maybe it will help his social skills.  

He still gets excited about breast feeding and crawls over to me after we put his PJ's on for bed.  He is still waking up 2-3 times to eat in the middle of the night which has been painful.  I haven't tried letting him cry it out, but I might have to sooner than later....

Has 6 teeth, 4 on top and 2 on bottom. 

He had the flu for 48 hours and it was the worst 2 days for both of us.  The first day he threw up a couple times in the morning and I thought maybe it was just spit up since at that time he was still pretty much only breast feeding.  We went to Whole Foods to meet some friends for lunch and as soon as I walked through the door he threw up all over both of us, yuck.  He threw up at least 5 times that day and usually it was on me...lol   We got him to drink some pedialite through a eye dropper and put him to bed.  The next day I thought he was feeling better so we went to lunch with Al at Cheesecake and he threw up all over our table, oh boy.  We stayed at home until he was 100% better after that :)  It is the saddest thing to see a baby sick especially since they can't tell you anything.  So grateful he is all better now.  I'm sure there is a ton of stuff I'm missing on my list, but these are some of my favorites.  10 months is such a fun age, so I can only imagine that it gets better after this.  Love You Alex!!

New Friends

Having a baby opens a whole nother world of friends which is so great.   Alex is at an age now where he can interact with other babies and he loves to watch kids play.  Last week we had a play date with Jordan who is a month younger than Alex. Instead of playing they just poked at each other and took toys out of each others hands like Alex is doing in the picture below.  

Our new ward has also opened up another world of friends.  I love our new ward. We have met so many great people and everyone has been so kind and welcoming.  Last week my friend Jenny had her baby girl!!   Bentley Ruby Dannels

Sachia and I took Jenny and Wyatt food and balloons their first night in the hospital.  Sachia and I were stopped by the front desk and asked if our balloons were latex free?  We ended up taking them home with us.  Latex free who knew?  

We had so much fun visiting with Jenny and Wyatt.  How fabulous does Jenny look 10 hours after having a baby? Notice her cute hospital gown, I'm totally buying one for my next hospital stay.

We went to Sachia's for a play date last week and Alex didn't want to leave.  He had his very first slow melt popsicle with Sienna and Hazel.

How cute is this picture?  I was trying to get Alex to hold his Popsicle, but he wasn't so sure.

Sachia's house is a dream for every kid and baby.  She has every toy imaginable, but they are all in pink hence why he is in a pink bib with a pink balloon...lol   

We love all our new friends and are so thankful to have them all in our lives!!

Culina

On Friday night Al and I went on a date, wooo hooo!!  I have a long list of restaurants I want to try mostly from shows like The Hills, Kardashians, and Housewives of Beverly Hills.  We were able to make a reservation for Culina in the Four Seasons Hotel which has been on my list for awhile.  The ambiance was so pretty and they were playing good music,  I knew it was going to be a good night.  When you sit down the waiter/waitress  places a pretty bowl of Olives, bread, and bread sticks on your table, Yum!!

The stars were out that night.  After we sat down Al told me to google the name Larry Flynt.  I googled him and his picture popped up.  I replied who is that?  He is the owner of Hustler magazine and is a gross old man like Hugh Hefner, but even creepier looking.  He has reddish hair and is on the left in the picture below.  He is in a wheelchair and that wheelchair is all gold.  He had 2 security guards sitting at the table next to us and halfway through their dinner they went over to him and brushed his hair and put his portable heater on the other side of him.....bizarre.   The guy sitting next to him was Woody Harrellson.  At first I was like Al I think that's Woody Allen and then I googled him and I was like haha that's definitely not Woody Allen.  We aren't that good with stars and their names obvi.

Woody had quite the outfit on....sweats, slippers, a suit jacket, and a trucker hat.  Anything goes in LA, but sweats at a nice restaurant?

Moving onto our delicious dinner.  I had the Ahi Tuna

and Mista salad which was to die for.  It had fresh asparagus, mushrooms, favas, chives, locatelli, pecorino, and fresh lemon.  I wish salads were this good when I make them at home because I could live on this one, so yummy.

Al had Rigatoni with fennel sausage, but I was so into my salad that I didn't take a picture.

Dr Owen Hunt from Greys was sitting behind and to the right of Al in the picture below.  I was hoping you could see him, but no luck.  

I told Al I wanted to get a picture with Woody, but I felt dumb asking him in the middle of his dinner.  I got my courage up and went for it.  When I asked him some lady sitting at his table said no he's eating dinner, but Woody was cool and said he would take one.  Pretty sure he had a mouth full of food...whoops.  A big thanks to Woody and all those years of entertainment from Cheers.  I wanted to start singing  Making your way in the world today

I bet he would have loved it, but Larry Flynt was making me nervous and so was the mean lady.  Good thing I will never seen any of them again, phew.  Thanks for the night out Al, loved it.
