First Day of Preschool 2014

I just love this boy.  He is so excited about life and has such a sweet personality.  He is always concerned with how you feel and always wants to know what he's doing for the day.   I've been talking about preschool for a few weeks now and he said he was excited to start.  We went to meet the teacher which he loved and then bought him a new Batman lunch box that he was telling me what I could put in it.  I was a little worried since preschool is 5 hours here, but he did great and loves it.  When I dropped him off he gave me a big hug and walked in his class happy and proud.  I hope it will always be like that because school can be hard.

It's hard to believe how fast they grow and I'm sure in 20 more years I will think the same thing.  I bought him a t-shirt from hello apparel that said hello and he was so excited to wear it.  I also had these new Nikes for him and he will only wear them to school.  I tried to put them on the other day and he said no mama those are my school shoes.

Some of his favorite things right now are legos, play-doh, cars, forts, swimming and playing with his brother Cole.  He will say the funniest things like "hey mama will you roll down the window so I can take a picture with my phone (a little play flip phone).  The other day he told us to "shhhhh I'm on the phone"  which Al is always saying to him.   We love you so much Alex and can't wait to watch you learn and grow!!

Just Another Day

Everyone went back to school but Cole and Alex. My entire news feed on FB and Instagram was pictures of everyones kids with their 1st day of school sign. I decided to take one of Cole and Alex with a sign that said just another day and don't they look so excited :)

Every splash pad in Frisco was shut off this summer due to water restrictions.  My friend Emily found this amazing one in Allen so we took a trip out there and had lunch at Torchy's after.

Al was off "working" in Vegas with his team and somehow scored a suite at the Cosmopolitan.  They drove heavy machinery around for their team building activity.

I have a hard time staying at home for dinner when Al is out of town so we go out a lot.  

Alex in his new Nike shirt.  Apparently all boys like to wear here is Under Armour and Nike, hopefully that fad changes before Alex is in school.

I'm slowly starting to not remember what it's like to have mountains.  I'm starting to see the beauty in all the fields with big rolls of hay.

I'm also starting to wonder about all the birds.  I guess it happens every fall and it's freaky.  Birds are everywhere especially at major intersections, in the trees, on the stoplights, seriously weird.

We went to Top Golf to celebrate our friend Jarom's birthday.  I introduced everyone to mojitos.

Turner Falls

On our way home from Oklahoma I kept seeing signs for Turner Falls. I started googling it and told Al we should go.  He was all about making good time and wasn't happy to turn around and go, but it turned out to be the perfect Labor Day activity.  

Turner Falls is in the Arbuckle Mountains which looked like hills to me and it's a waterfall that leads into a natural swimming pool.  There was tons of people playing in the river/creek, people bbqing, camping, drinking, and just having a good time.  I'm sure we probably picked one of the busiest weekend to go, but I'm glad we did it. This is the 77ft waterfall??

This is the pool with a cool diving board and slides, but Alex and Cole were definitely too little to go on them, so we watched Al instead.

Al said his knees almost buckled on this diving board because he was expecting there to be spring when he jumped and there was nothing.  We only lasted a couple hours, but we didn't have shoes, towells, or sunscreen, haha.  Maybe we can stay in a cabin next time on a less busy weekend.  Until next time Turner Falls.

Oklahoma City

A couple months ago we tried to book a cabin in Arkansas and Oklahoma for Labor Day weekend, but we were never able to find anything.  We kicked around the idea of going to Oklahoma City so on Saturday night we booked a hotel and left Sunday morning.  We only live about 3 hours from OKC which would explain all the tornado sirens by our neighborhood, yikes.  Al brought a bunch of pens and paper home from his trip that week and Cole had fun drawing all over himself during the drive.  I think Alex is the only kid that has never drawn on anything.  

We started at the Oklahoma City Museum and it brought tears to my eyes.  I couldn't remember a lot of details since I was 12 when it happened, so it was interesting to see and read everything.

The memorial was amazing.  This is the road the truck drove down and parked in front of the building.

I think the saddest part was reading about all the innocent children that died in the daycare.  Its so awful, I don't know how anyone could do something like that.

Visiting places like that always puts things into perspective for you and reminds you what matters most.  You just never know when something like that could happen.   After the museum we needed to regroup and eat some lunch.  We found a yummy burger joint close by and ate lots of calories.

After lunch the boys needed a nap so we drove to see the capitol building and then to OKC.

and he got one of me by the KKG house. I honestly couldn't believe how big the houses were on Greek Row. I've never seen anything like it.

After we checked into the hotel we took the boys swimming.  

That night we went to Brick Town which is basically tons of restaurants, a movie theater and a wannabe San Antonio river walk (that's what Al said).  We couldn't find any restaurants on Yelp so we just wandered around and ended up going to a Thai restaurant by our hotel that had good reviews, but ended up being ok.

Soccer Season

Soccer season is in full force in Texas.  I know it's not Al's sport of choice, but it's the only sport you can sign them up at age 3 in Frisco.  Alex and Bo at their first soccer practice, so cute.

Me of all people was out watching my 3 year old play soccer.  I have a feeling I'm going to be sitting at a lot of sporting events in the future.  

Our favorite place to hang out, the mall.  It has something fun for all of us!!

Brothers

Cole and Alex accepted the ice bucket challenge with Al, so funny.

Diane watched the boys for us and we drove to Dallas.  On our way we stopped at Mary Kays house which is for sale right now.

We took a trip to The Dealy Plaza Museum and learned so much about JFK.  This is the window he was shot out of.

We celebrated restaurant week at Lawrys.  Their prime rib was amazing but the scallops were disappointing.  I haven't had an amazing experience with seafood since I've been here.

I set up the slip n slide for Cole and they loved it.  I would say Summer don't end, but I can't wait for it to cool off.  I don't know if I'll ever get used to this humidity.

We went to Dicks on the busiest Saturday of the year which is right before school and sports start.  We got Alex some cleats and a soccer ball.

Saturday fun at Diane's house.  We played murder in the dark since Danielle and Nicole were in town and the boys got to stay up late watching Frozen with Caydence and Carly.

We went to a science museum in Frisco for story time and they got to ice cookies after. Yay for them and a mess for moms :)

A fun night out with some girls in my ward.  So thankful for the new friends I've made since we've moved here.
