Carmegeddon 2011

I couldn't help, but post about the 405 being closed this weekend because it's so ridiculous. I've seen signs about it all over LA for the last 2 months. Supposedly the 405 carry's 300,000 cars a day and it is closing for 2 days, yikes.

There are apps you can buy, count down clocks on the news, freeways, and internet. Jet Blue had some special where you could fly from Burbank to LA for $4 each way. I'm just thankful I'm leaving for Utah tomorrow and won't be here for this momentous occasion.

Random

Just some random pictures I thought I would post. I made shish kabobs with Alex last week in the Bjorn. I want all our kids to learn how to cook, so why not start them young :)

Cutting was a little more difficult.

Anytime I take anything out of the dryer and it's still warm I put it on Alex and he loves it.

Al has started training for triathlons again. This time he bought a trainer for his new bike and decided our living room would the perfect place for it. What I would give for another bedroom or garage!!

Ranes Family Fun

My Uncle Andrew and his family just moved back to California a few weeks ago, so we got to attend their house warming party. Driving to different cities in California isn't really a big deal because there are so many cities and so much traffic. Andrew and Janae live 90 miles from us. Al compared to it to living in Salt Lake and driving to Wendover. No one would ever do that, but in California 90 miles isn't a big deal...hahah Anyway we had a great time at the BBQ/Pool Party. Alex even enjoyed it for a bit until he got splashed by the water.

After the pool we moved the party inside. Henry introduced Alex to his Baby Doll collection.

We played this game where 4 people put 1 finger in a slot and then it randomly shocks one of you...lol Turns out the kids loooved it and then they started fighting over it.

Before we made our drive home I played Nina in Mario Kart on Game Cube, but she won :( If anyone wants to challenge me on Super Nintendo I will most likely win.

Baby Bug

I understand now when people who already have kids say they have the baby bug.

Alex is 15 weeks old today and I'm already feeling a big buggy myself, but not to worry I won't be having another one anytime soon. Giving birth was an amazing experience. A lot of other people I know have given birth the last few months as well and seeing those sweet photos of them in the hospital with their brand new babies makes me feel all nostalgic and emotional about my own experience.

I don't know how anyone can witness a birth or give birth and not believe that God is real and that if we could really comprehend his love for us we might just drown in it. Without him none of this was possible. I hope everyone that reads this post would be able to say the same thing.

Alex is now 15lbs and it makes me happy that he is eating well and chunking up.

I couldn't ask for a sweeter baby.

July 4th

Fourth of July is a great day in LA because there is no traffic. I don't know if everyone stays home or what, but the roads and freeways are dead....the small things that make us happy. We went to breakfast at a little restaurant I spotted in Silverlake called Mustard Seed Cafe. A definite must if you are in the area.

That afternoon we went with our friends Chuck and Kaitlin to a BBQ at Chucks parents house. It's always nice to spend time with families even if they aren't ours.

Chucks nieces were so cute with Alex....too bad they don't live closer and I may have found myself a babysitter.

Alex finally enjoying tummy time. This week he learned how to roll over from his back to his stomach. We are working on teaching him how to roll back.

Alex loooooves being outside. He layed on this blanket for over an hour just looking up at the sky and talking.

That evening we went to a park in Yorba Linda to watch fireworks. I didn't know if Alex would make it since he usually goes to bed at 8, but he just layed there sucking his thumb looking around.

Hopefully Kaitlin got a better picture of us on her camera, but this is all I have. I got Alex to hold the flag for the picture, yay.

We still had 30 minutes until the fireworks started so Chuck soon to be Dr Odion checked Al's teeth for cavities....hahah

The fireworks were great and what was even better is Alex slept through them on Al's shoulder!!

Zuma

When we moved to California I envisioned us going to the beach every weekend. Sadly that hasn't happened and I don't really see it happening unless we move 1 block away. It's so crazy how many people go to the beach on 4th of July weekend and we were party of that craziness. A bunch of couples in our ward met at Zuma Beach and hung out for the day. It was overcast most of the day which actually worked out good for little Alex.

He did so good all thanks to our Umbrella that shaded his perfect pale skin. I thought we would only last a couple hours, but he made it 4...YAY

I spotted this restaurant on PCH last time we were in Malibu and have been talking about it ever since....I love Seafood

We had fish tacos, shrimp cocktail, and fried oysters which were all delicous.

Beach Days are the best....I think we need to have more of them.
