IRONMAN NYC

We are leaving for NYC tomorrow. Our flight doesn't leave until 1:10am which should be interesting with Alex. Al's race is 3 days away and I think we all are a little nervous.  He went to the Doctor today and his MCL is still torn, he got a MRI last week which showed a bone bruise, and he has a tight IT Band which are all on his left knee.  Cross your fingers for him!!  Knowing Al he will fight through the pain just to hear the announcer at the finish line say "Al Cameron you are an Ironman."

Oceanside Ironman 70.3

We spent last weekend in Oceanside for the Oceanside Ironman 70.3. The 70.3 means it is a half Ironman so the distances are 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run, no big deal right?
This was Al's second half Ironman and I was a little nervous for him since his IT band was still really sore from the Pasadena Half Marathon last month.   The swim doesn't look too bad here, but apparently it was brutal.  Al and Ross both threw up during the swim and the water smelled like fish so that probably didn't help.
In the transition area getting ready for the bike ride.  The bike ride went into Camp Pendleton with lots of big hills.
Al 4 getting ready for the big bike ride.
Starting the run
A half is a long race to be a spectator especially with a 1 year old.  I'm not sure how we will make it during the Ironman in August.
It was soooo cold and misty which made it even harder.

We found a playground close to the finish line, so we had a little swing and sand time.

Almost to the finish line.
Great job Al.  You continue to amaze me with your races.  I think I will stick to Sprints :)
Great Job Al 4
Final Finish Time 6 hours and 13 minutes
