Summer Sno Cones

You may remember the song from the late 90's "Where Have All The Cowboys Gone"

I used to loooove this song when I was in highschool and listened to the CD over and over. When I heard Paula Cole was coming to Americana for a free concert I of course told Al I had to go. I'm so cool I got VIP tickets which meant we had a seat for the entire concert!!

Before the concert started I was asking myself I wonder where Paula Cole has been for the last 10 years? When she started singing all her new songs, dancing like a hippie, and calling us darling dears it all made sense where she has been the last 10 years. I think the drugs may have gotten to her brain and musical talent.

I was really hoping she would sing more of her old stuff, but that wasn't the case. She also didn't sing Where Have All The Cowboys Gone or I Don't Want To Wait until the very end which was so lame. I guess I shouldn't have high expectations for free concerts anymore.....

For Labor Day we spent the day with my Uncle John's family and his cute kids. Unfortunatley I only took one picture that entire day and it was of Savannah and Kyle with the pigs...lol

The highlight of my week was Al getting his haircut. We have a personal hair stylist cut Al's hair from our house...lol It is so professional Al takes his shirt off and ends up looking like Austin Powers. I'm so glad he doesn't really have a hairy chest like this.
Last weekend we went on a hike in Griffith Park called Ferndell. Apparently it's supposed to be this paved 1.5 mile trail with beautiful ferns and greenery hanging over the trail.

and we saw lots of Dragonflies.Then the trail became dirt and we ended up hiking to the Observatory which is that white building at the top left of the picture.

It actually turned out to be a really cool hike. Not as Ferney (is that a word) as I expected, but it was fun.Al, Me, Celia, Aaron and L.A. behind us.

We made it to the top and got to see them set up for some special performance for the VMAS. Too bad we weren't invited.

Afterwards we went to this new Sno Cone Shop that just opened at the mall. I've been craving a sno cone from one of the many yummy sno cone shacks in Utah all summer and was so happy when I found out they put ice cream and sweetened condensed milk in the sno cones. This is the medium that Celia and Aaron got for $4. What a Deal!! The picture of Al and I didn't turn out cute like Celia and Aarons, so maybe I should just post a picture of our sno cone. I will definately be going back for many more Sno Cones. I'm over Pinkberry and onto Sno Cones!!

Utah Half Triathlon

Last weekend was the Utah Half Triathlon. 1.2 mile swim in Utah Lake, 56 mile bike ride, and a half marathon. Al and I had been watching the weather report all week which said rainy and windy which means they would either A-cancel the race or B-cancel the swim. Luckily it poured rain the night before and the sky was clear for the swim. There was even a rainbow which had to mean good luck. Ross after the swim. Ross is doing the Kona Ironman in October which is amazing. We are excited for him.
I'm going to refer to my Al as little Al and Al's dad as Big Al, otherwise it get's too confusing. Here is Little Al after the swim.

I'm so proud of Al. He barely trained and completed a half triathlon. AMAZING!! Great job guys. Next races San Diego triathlon, LA triathlon, and NYC marathon. Al has a busy few months ahead of him.

Friends & Family

Last weekend we were in Utah for Al's Triathlon. It was a quick 3 day trip, but we got to see a lot of friends and family while we were there. We had breakfast at Kneaders with my long lost friends and their husbands.

I can't beleive that Megan has two kids and Tonya has one. That means Ash and I are next!!

That night we went to dinner with my family at my favorite Thai restaurant. It was so good to see everyone.
My favorite soup and I can't find at any other Thai restaurant. It is seriously so amazing.
On Saturday we were at Al's triathlon for most of the day which I will post pictures of on a separate blog post. Afterwards I got a much needed pedi/mani with my mom. I miss those days.That night Al and I went to Coby's football game at Rice Eccles. Coby is #2

On Sunday we went to Chad and Danielle's baby blessing for their baby Sienna. It was so much fun to see them. Sienna is beautiful and so was the blessing. We miss hanging out with them in Vegas. Al's sisters baby blessing was also that afternoon, so we made a quick detour from Farmington to Layton to see my Aunt Mary and cute little Blake. He rode his dirt bike around for us, too funny.
Their house is kids paradise. A playground, trampoline, dirt bikes, horses, guinea pigs, fish and a huge backyard. We were feeding Mary's horse Sassy apricots. After Sassy chews up the apricot she spits out the seed. It was so funny. Blake and his new pet lizard. I think he was bummed I didn't want to hold it.

We made it from Layton to Draper in 40 minutes. It amazes me how fast you can get somewhere in Utah. Here is cute little Kasjen before his blessing.
Unfortunately I got sidetracked after the blessing and only got this picture of Al's great grandma Alice. She is seriously the sweetest. It was a great day and we are so glad we got to be there for Danielle and Chads baby blessing and Kaj and Nikkis. It worked out perfect.
A great ending to our trip was raiding my Aunt Liz's and Al's granadparents gardens. I had a garbage bag full of vegetables and it made me so happy. I was a little concerned at how I was going to get them past the California check point, but luckily we didn't get stopped. Phew
