Surf City 2013

Grandma and Grandpa Cameron stayed with us a couple weeks ago for the Surf City Marathon.  Friday night we had dinner at Palermos in Silverlake.  The Al's were in heaven with their Italian food.

Coles new nickname from Grandpa is Kaipo Cocos.  Mostly he calls him Coco but Cole is still his real name.

On Saturday we went to the race Expo for Al 4 to check in and we had a yummy lunch at 21 Degrees

On the way home everyone was asleep in the car except Al and I.

Saturday night we had dinner at Whole Foods.  Alex devoured his pizza.

I have to be careful about what I order to drink because he always ends up drinking it.  No more soda for me.

Sunday was race day.  This year I stayed at home with the boys so Al and Shelly could enjoy spectating.  We had a ton of food for Superbowl Sunday that made up for the calories he burned in the race.  Lets be honest thought I could give Al 4 and 5 my pregnancy weight and they would still be thin.

Blurbs

Some days go by so slow, but when I look at these pictures it's a reminder of how fast time really does goes by.  I was so nervous to have another baby, but I'm so thankful we did.  He is such a sweet blessing in our lives and it's fun to watch him and Alex grow closer together even though they can't quite play yet.

We met some friends at a new indoor playground and they had this cool track to ride on.  Alex loved it.

I'm guessing this is how bad habits start.

Dinner with some friends at Houstons. 

Babysitters are hard to come by these days so we dropped Alex off at Sachia's.  Dinner went longer than we thought so he ended up getting a bath there and borrowing a pair of Hazel's pajamas.  

I could watch Cole sleep all day long, so peaceful.

I try to feed Cole a bottle a couple days a week so he will take one if I ever need him too.  I caught Alex with it.  I'm not sure if he was biting it or drinking it, but that is definitely breast milk in there...lol

Al got to be an extra in a show called Masters of Sex which starts this spring on Showtime.  

He came home with a clean shave, greased hair and makeup on.  

Babies grow out of clothes so fast it's crazy.  This is the first time he wore this Texas Tech onesie Al's boss bought us and now it's too small.

Last week we had a park date with all our friends and decided to get dinner afterwards.  There were 9 kids and 4 of us.

 At 3 months Cole is....

Discovering his hands, loves to put them in his mouth.

Pretty consistent about eating every 3 hours.  Sometimes I can stretch it to 3.5

He goes to bed at 7pm and will usually sleep until 1 or 2am, again at 4 or 5am then sleeps until 7am.  I long for the nights where I will get interrupted sleep again.

I tried letting him cry it out to go to bed, but it didn't really work and it doesn't help that Alex's room is next to his and he also cries every night he goes to bed and then it wakes Cole up.  It's a never ending battle.

We are struggling with naps in his crib during the day.  He will take about a 30 minute one in the morning and afternoons are another story.  If I hold him he will sleep for 2-3 hours, but not so much in his crib.  I have to get him and Alex on the same napping schedule. 

He has the worst gas, gross I know.  I have no clue why since all he drinks is breast milk. 

I got him to take formula for the first time and he still takes the bottle as of 2 weeks ago.  I've been lazy since nursing is so much faster.

Loves going for rides in the stroller and has gotten better in the car.  

I love getting him out of his crib in the morning.  He gives you the biggest smile and just wants to talk.

He has the cutest clammiest feet and he just started laughing at night when I massage lotion on them.

He is ticklish when you take off or put on one of his shirts.  

He likes to sit up so he can look around.

I feel like he is always looking for Alex.  Sometimes I think he's a little scared, but he does great since most of the time Alex is a little rough.  

He just started sitting in his Bumbo and loves it.  Gotta love the Bumbo.

This is one of my favorite faces he makes.  His eyes get so big.

Coast Trip Part Deux

Sunday morning we had an early breakfast at Frankie & Lola's Cafe.  Al had Creme Brulee french toast that was amazing.

Alex threw sugar packets everywhere.

The drive along the coast is sooo pretty.  Next time I want to go all the way to Oregon.

We started off at Hearst Castle.  We didn't know they make you park at the bottom and take a shuttle  up to the castle, but after we drove up the windey road it made sense.

They loaned us a backpack at the Visitors Center for Alex and I carried Cole in the Bjorn.  Our tour guide was so serious you would have thought the castle was his.  He told our group at least 10 times before walking in to only step on the carpeted walkways, to not touch anything but the medal railings, and no food or gum.  As soon as we got to the first room Alex started freaking out in the backpack and wanted to get down.  One of the security guards came over to us and asked us if we would like to go to the baby room.  We decided to accept their offer and then they quickly walked us through the other 3 rooms we would have seen on the tour.

As soon as we got to the baby room Alex jumped out of Al's arms and started playing with the toys.  I decided I should feed Cole and change his diaper while we were sitting there and than Alex decided he should go to the bathroom too.  2 year old diapers smell about 100 times worse than 2 month old diapers so lets just say the room smelled really bad  The guard came in at one point and quickly stepped back out, oh boy.   Then when we were done with everything we went back out and the tour was outside the baby room, so I'm sure they smelled everything.   It was a disaster!!

Luckily we got to walk around outside to make our $25 tickets worth it.

It was a rough day for Alex due to not sleeping the night before.

Hearst Castle is amazing.  I wish they had a tour to see the entire thing, but if we ever go back it will be without kids or when they are older, much older.

Our second stop was to see the elephant seal colony at Piedras Blancas.  What a sight it was.  We weren't sure if there were more people or seals.  I seriously could have stood there all day and watched them, so interesting.

The elephant seals were our turn around point.  We stopped in San Luis Obispo for lunch at Firestone Grill.  I was a little apprehensive at first because last time I ate there I was 8 months pregnant with Alex and hated BBQ then.  This time we got there popular tri tip sandwich and it was amazing.  Alex ate all the batter of the onion rings.

We walked over to the famous Bubblegum Alley and admired all the gum everywhere.  It's kind of gross, but pretty crazy it's been there since the 50's

Our last stop of the trip was Madonna Inn.  The first time I ever saw this was when I used to watch The Girls Next Door, haha.

Both kids did great on the ride home.  It was a successful trip.
