December 2012

Some more random pictures
Al decided he was going to be Alex's new hair dresser.  We put on Disney and sat him on my lap and he was very patient.  At the very end I told Al he needed to cut one spot more and that's the spot that looks questionable.
The new hairdo
Oh man where do I start with Cole and his poop.  This baby seriously goes through soooo many diapers.  I thought it slowed down around week 6 to once a day, but at week 8 he is still going strong with 2-3 times a day. This was one of the last times he got my shirt.  I thought I was faster at wiping now, but he's quick.
Alex's favorite spot to relax and eat snacks.
Bath time is a little crazy these days.
Alex and one of his tantrums.
Every Friday our ward has a music class for kids and Alex loves it.
Lately during nap time Alex wants to wear his sweats or pajamas.  I found him in his jeans with his pajamas over them...hahah
We went to Travel Town and rode the $2 train that turned into the Polar Express and was $7.
It was worth it to see that smile on Alex's face.  He was loving it!!
Alex loved the Elf
and he even sat on Santa's lap without crying.
Holding Cole, love them.
Hanging out with Dad, wish someone took pictures of me holding them.
I had to ask for this one.
Hanging out at the Dannel's house.  Hazel held Cole for like 10 minutes.
Frosting sugar cookies.
My friend Daisy and her son Jordan who is the same age of Alex were in town.  They stopped by to say hi and brought me a Boba that I spilled everywhere....haha  Love this picture of them hugging.

December Fun

I've been meaning to post these pictures for a few weeks.   Cole is so good at Tummy Time, but apparently we need to do it more because at his 6 week appointment the Dr pointed out that the left side of his head is getting a little flat.
My partner in crime that is getting busier and busier by the day.   I love everything about him.  He has his days especially when he won't listen to me, but don't we all :)
We did 12 days of Christmas for Alex so he would get the hang of opening presents.  He picked it up the first day and then we couldn't put anything under the tree until it was time to open something...haha.
Alex got sick from nursery when Cole was 1 month old.  It's so sad to see your kids sick especially when they don't really talk.  Poor Alex had a horrible fever and just wanted to lay with me which is so unlike him.  Luckily the rest of us didn't get it.
Cole is getting chubbier by the day, love that little baby.  You just want to squeeze him.
Alex loves all of Cole's toys.  Here he is sitting in his Mamaroo watching tv.  I think the Mamaroo actually had something to do with making his head flat.
My life as of late....me and the boys.
Cole hasn't been the best sleeper so he usually ends up in our bed at some point during the night.  This picture makes me laugh....both of them looking at each other.
One of Alex's expressions that I love.  He usually does this when he hears something loud or when Cole cries and I think he tries to say what is that?
Our ward Christmas party with 2 dear friends Sachia and Jenny, love them both.
and our blurry family picture.
Al sent me this during one of his surgeries after we had a long restless night with Cole
You forget how tired a little tiny baby can make you.
Brotherly love.  Sometimes Alex will want to hold Cole and it's usually for about 5 seconds.
One of our first dinners as a family of 4.  I'm ashamed to say our first dinner out was at McDonalds which I didn't take a picture of.   We got a roll with lobster and scallops and Alex was loving the lobster.  Another one of his favorite things to eat is Potstickers.
I'm very thankful for our little family.

Neglected

I've been meaning to post this for over a month, but when sleep and feedings are your main focus the blog gets neglected.  As much as I wanted our busy lifestyle to continue after Cole was born it has definitely slowed down a bit.   I've been trying to get us out at least once a day, but with nursing and sleep deprivation it's a challenge.  Al went with us the first few times which helped me get the hang of how I was going to handle a newborn and toddler who runs everywhere.
On Thanksgiving I saw an ad at Home Depot for a artificial tree for $59 normally $200.  I somehow talked Al into going at 5am on Black Friday for me.  He had success and got me the tree, a poinsettia which he said people were going crazy over, and a drill.  Later that day we ended up going back for some drill bits and he said if we go and there is a ton of trees left I'm going to be mad.  Sure enough the first thing we saw when we walked in was a pallet of those trees. We walked by the Christmas section and I decided I wanted to see the tree we just bought.  I asked a worker if that was the tree and he kind of chuckled and said no it's that one.  I looked over and it seriously had like 10 branches on it.  Al asked to speak to a manager because the picture in their ad clearly wasn't the one they were selling.   Al asked her if she had seen the tree and she said "yes I was going to buy one but then I put it up and saw it, Don't get me wrong, but that tree looks way Hispanic and I'm Hispanic."  Oh boy how funny is that.
Long story short we ended up returning the Hispanic one and buying a different one.  I wish I would have taken a picture of the other tree, so funny.
Fake sleeping with Dad, one of his favorite games.
Alex loves to sit on the counter while I cook.  He will be a great helper someday.

I don't know if being at home all day has been harder on me or Alex, but soon enough we will be back on our old schedule.
This has been another struggle.....Alex starts crying, Cole starts crying, and then I start crying.
Park day and we even got him to wear a jacket which was not easy.
Bed head
and then Al cut it.  There is only one spot that looks a little questionable, but he will be a pro by the time he's 2.

1 Month

Cole is a sweet sweet baby.  He is very calm and just goes with the flow for the most part.
I gave him a binky when he was about 1 week and he loves it which is nice if I don't have time to feed him right away.
Likes the car as long as you're moving.
It took me 3 weeks to get up the courage to take both of them to the store, but I survived even though it's a production to get them both ready and loaded in the car.
He has been great at nursing which I'm always worried about, but as you can tell by those cheeks he isn't starving.  He gained 1lb at his 1 week appt.
He doesn't like being swaddled.  He started fighting it around 1 week, so I just wrap him in a loose blanket.
He goes through diapers so fast I doubt my 6 month supply from Ellen will last even 3 months.  Right when he was born he started peeing on the Dr.  He pooped so much meconium at the hospital we asked the nurse if something was wrong.  And I've been pooped on at least 10 times and usually it's in the middle of the night. I'm so tired I just go to bed with it on our sheets or on my clothes....sleep is that important these days.   Luckily it doesn't smell and comes out with the Dawn dish soap.
Has a clogged tear duct so when he crys big sad tears roll down his cheeks.
He has the darkest hair compared to toe head Alex.  It has fallen out on his left side and I'm wondering what color it will be next.
He had a very prominent Xiphoid Process at birth, but you can barely see it anymore.
His left ear was flat at the top, but that fixed itself.
He slept in our room for 2 weeks in a bassinet, but started getting really noisy so now he's in his crib.
Around 3 weeks he started to like baths, but he still gets startled so I just bought him a Tummy Tub for Christmas.
Night times have been really rough starting around 3 weeks.  He doesn't want to go to bed until 10 or 11 and he's only been sleeping 3 hours at a time.  I've been reading Babywise and just bought Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child.  I'm determined to get him to sleep so I don't feel and look like I have a hangover every morning.
Smiled for the first time at me on December 3rd.
When he cries he will stop as soon as you pick him up.  We all like to be loved right:)
I had Al give him a bottle at 1 month and he took it fine.  Lets hope he continues because Alex never did.
He has the strongest neck and is amazing at Tummy Time.  In fact he rolled over yesterday and he's only 5 weeks old.   We love you little Cole and so glad you joined our family!!

Twenty Months

Loves elevators and pushing any kind of button.
Doesn't like to listen.  I would let him walk by himself in the store, but he would rather run off which scares me to death.  Hopefully this age will pass quickly because everything makes me nervous.
Still isn't really talking but says NO, mama, dada, slide, light which sounds more like sligh, what is that but it doesn't sound clear, Cole (I think).  We are on talking and will be caught up in no time.
Yells out hey and hi
Pats the seat next to him when he wants you to sit down.
He is crazy at the store.  If you don't pay attention you will have all sorts of random things in the cart.
Loves music and dancing.  He sings in sacrament and has a microphone at home he pretends to sing into.
Loves to pray.  We say at least 5 a day
Likes lavender sprayed on his feet at night.  When I massage it on he says ahhhh.
Is really into turning off and on lights, but usually it's just off because he can't reach the on part.
Likes to stack blocks
Loves nursery and music class.
Very clean.  He sweeps with his little broom and will get a wipe and start cleaning with it.
He is hilarious and does the funniest things everyday.
Yesterday he heard Cole poop and went and got a diaper and wipes for him.
Loves to sit on the counter while I make him breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  His wife will thank me one day when he can cook:)
Loves to throw things especially his toys
Loves to run out to the garage and hop in the car with Dad when he gets home from work
Pretty good eater.  We are working on vegetables.
Very sweet.  He will just come up and hug or kiss you.
Still cries at naps and bedtime which I hope ends soon.
Pretty shy. If a stranger says something to him he will close his eyes and pucker his lips.
He has done really good with Cole and is already a great big brother.  I know it's been a huge change in his life, but I think he will thank me someday when he has a best friend.  We Love You Alex
