Project Of The Week

My mom gave me this picture frame when we got married and we finally brought it back to L.A. with us after Christmas. This was my big project of the week. You might be thinking ...what cutting out pictures and putting them in a frame?? However a lot of countless hours were spent going through pictures and picking out the perfect ones for my new picture frame. Sizing them and deciding where to place them was also very important and also reminded me why I quit scrapbooking. Anyway here is the final product=pictures of Al and I from 2005-2010!!

I also finally figured out how to make our pictures bigger on our blog. YAY

Rose Bowl

Last week I ate at this restaurant in Hollywood called Cafe Midi. Besides the atmosphere and stars that I saw it was amazing. It is attached to this really cool clothing store called American Rag and apparently it's the place to shop. We ate on the patio where these random guys in the picture below are sitting. There were paparazzi everywhere....at least 10 different ones.I was hoping for someone like Brad Pitt, but out walked cute little Quinn from Glee. She walked by our table and I was like OMG who is that I totally know her....hahah It finally clicked and I realized it was QUINN. She is even cuter in person.

Loved Cafe Midi and will definately be going back. This weekend we decided to go to Big Bear to check it out and go sledding. We decided skiing was a rip off and fake snow wasn't worth it. This is about as snow capped as the mountains get in SoCal
The best part was the icy signs every 50 ft and the fire ones 10 ft past those.

BIG BEAR
Very informative
The mountain and I have no idea how these people were wearing coats and ski pants. It was sooo warm.
When you visit Big Bear you can go sledding 1 of 4 ways. In the picture below you can pay $30 per person and get carried up a conveyor belt ramp and choose 1 of 6 paths to take.
You also get to stand in the line below....not worth it. The second option is at another resort, but you get to take a ski lift up to the hill and this one costs $35 per person. The third is a ton of hills, but you actually have to work for your sledding, but they still have steps for you and this one was only $10 per person. The last and most economical sledding would be Mexican sledding where you pull over on the side of the road and just go down the rocky snow. I totally wish I would've got a picture.
We were going to do the $10 per person sledding, but since California charges to park EVERYWHERE we couldn't because we only had $20 cash....no check or cards accepted. We considered parking on the road and risk getting a ticket, but that would probably be $100, so it wasn't worth it. We enjoyed the sights of Big Bear and the madness of people going crazy over the snow.
The best sight was trucks backed up against the mountain with people filling up the truck beds with snow to drive back to LA. True story.
We also went to the famous Rose Bowl flea market. Al was wishing it was the Bowl game, but the flea market was a much better price. Of course you have to pay to get in this flea market.....I've learned nothing is free in California.

The biggest tennis raquet ever. We were going to buy it for my Aunt Liz, but it was $70. Things don't come cheap these days even at a flea market.
Endless amounts of shoes and these tables reeked. There is something weird about buying old shoes molded to someone elses feet.

It was definatley one of the best flea markets I've ever been too. I doubt Al would agree, but I liked it!!

Venice Beach

I've been meaning to post our pictures that Jobi took for us last month. We used some for our Christmas cards this year. I love the way they turned out even if every guy Al knows comments on them...lol

A New Year

New Years got pretty crazy for us this year. I worked until 7 and then Al and I decided to go to Long Beach to watch Travis Pastrana do the world record jump. He went 90mph in a car on Long Beach Pier and jumped 269ft onto a barge floating off the Pier. It was soooo crazy to watch in person!! Here is the video if you didn't see it

I don't know what it is about crowds these days, but people gross me out. Maybe it's just all the body odors people put off or maybe it's the sickeys blowing cigarette smoke around. Whatever it is I don't handle crowds as well as I used too which means I need to go to Time Square for NYE ASAP! Al & I

Once all the crazies were gone I could actually get a good view of the ramps.
Afterwards we were going to go to dinner in Hollywood, but ended up staying in Long Beach since there was so much going on. We at at a Teppanyaki place called Tokyo Wako which was so yummy and they didn't charge extra for fried rice like most. The infamous onion volcano which will never get old. Long Beach
After dinner we had an hour until fireworks so we walked around the pier and watched all the drunks making fools of themselves....that was only entertaining for about 30 minutes, so then we went and sat on this hill with a lighthouse. Believe it or not it was actually really cold (not as cold as looking at lights at Temple Square). It was really windy which made it worse.
The fireworks were shot off the Queen Mary which looks exactly like Titanic...lol Al and I considered eating dinner and hanging out there for NYE until we found out it was $300 per person, but that included a room for the night.Jan 1, 2010 I finally found the Forest Gump photo opp I've been looking for, for years!! What a great way to start 2010.
Going back to 2009 for a moment. I totally forgot to write about when Jobi and I got stuck in the Wells Fargo parking garage the other day. Drive Thru's at banks don't exist in California....convenient right. We were in Jobis car and apparently some spots have a lower ceiling clearance than other spots, but we didn't see that sign and so this happened.
Luckily we weren't really stuck and it just scraped her rack, but it was pretty funny.
On Saturday it was a beautiful day which is usually every day in California, but I won't try to brag about that. We went to Griffith Park and found this creepy Carousel. Al was on the phone with his dad when he told us that's where Charles Manson used to hang out.....creepy Here is the Carousel from a distance
This Carousel played the creepiest Carnival music and went faster than most Merry Go Rounds I've seen.
I also saw the coolest toy ever!! This huge red ball thing that looks like grapes and in the middle the kid gets in and you push them around. Where were these things when I was little??

I played football with Al.....well not real football, just catch. He taught me how to throw spirals, catch, kick, and much much more.
We made our goals for 2010 and my first and foremost is to find a full time job. Here is to making 2010 a great one!! Happy New Year
