Greys Anatomy

Al got contacted by Grey's Anatomy a couple weeks ago to be on the show....the real reason we moved to L.A. Actually they needed a Cusa machine in one of their scenes and that is one of the machines Al sells. Since he brought the Cusa they let him be in the scene. He asked if I could tag along and the producer was nice enough to say yes!! I was soooo excited and had my fingers crossed that McDreamy would be there. The studio is in Hollywood right off of Sunset. General Hospital and Greys are the only shows they film there. Everything is filmed at the studio or the VA hospital in Hollywood which is hard to imagine when you see the show. Here are some Seattle Ambulances
The Prop Manager gave us a tour of all the stages and sets. It is soooo crazy that everything is in 3 or 4 buildings......the hospital, emergency rooms, break rooms, Merediths house, the bar, and most importantly the bathtub Meredith and McDreamy took a bath in. I seriously have no idea how they fit in there....lol
Here is the foyer of the hospital. Upstairs is the observatory room they watch from and the greenish wall in the background moves up and that was the operating room they were filming in when we were there.
You have no idea how much work goes into TV production until you are there watching all the crap they have to do. Everyone wants to be an actor or actress, but I promise after this it's all over rated. They started filming this scene at 3pm and we weren't done until 8pm that night and the scene will only be about 5 minutes long. It takes 8 days to film one episode. They do the scene over and over and over....they do it from about 10 different angles and everytime they change the angle they have to change the lighting. While they are switching things around the actors go wander around and they have stand ins that look like the actors. For example they have an Asian girl stand in for Dr Yang. When everything is ready to go they go sit back down and the actors come back in. It's pretty amazing. In the picture below they are putting chunks of meat and fake blood all over the opening of the dummy to portray the surgery on the liver. Meredith is the one with the bun on top of her head. I LOVE YOU MEREDITH!!

Here is a picture of the dummy...hahah
Here is a picture of Dr Miranda Bailey (I think that's her name in Greys) . The guy in the red plaid shirt is the Executive Producer. I sat here and watched them film the tumor scene Al is in. I sat next to the medical writer. She goes through the script and writes all the medical lines. She was a ER Dr and quit to be a writer for Greys. It was really interesting to see all the different jobs people have.
This is Al's scene....he is closest to the left with his hand next to the Cusa machine. His cue line was "Bring in the Cusa" and he rolls it in.....hahah so awesome.
Here is picture of the waiting room
and what they are actually doing surgery on
Now I'm sure you all want to know who we got to meet and I will try to remember everyone. Meredith, Cristina, Miranda, Dr.Webber, Dr. Owen Hunt who has a really strong Scottish accent in real life. Unfortunately McDreamy, McSteamy, and Izzie weren't there. This is the best we could do with McDreamy.......

I'm so glad I got to go. Everyone that works there is so nice and they have the best food everywhere. It was pretty amazing and I'm so glad my husband is a star now. He is so much cooler and even better he is getting a check in the mail because he worked so hard!! Heres to Grey's Anatomy

Superbowl Sunday

We decided to throw a Superbowl party at the last minute as in the night before. I had just enough time to prepare every Superbowl snack imaginable. We had everyone write down what they thought the final score would be on their cups, so you couldn't change your mind halfway through. I was the ONLY one that chose the Saints...Who Dat? Here is a picture of everyone.
Jeff & Kathryn
Heike & Sean
Aaron & Celia
Al & I
I'm always amazed at how much Al can eat, but I think he set a new record on Superbowl Sunday. Here he is topping it off with 2 hot dogs in 1 bun. Now where does it all go is the questionWho watched all the commercials? I could probably tell you more about those than the game...lol My favorite one was the E-Trade Baby Girlfriend. I laugh everytime I watch it. If you didn't see it go here I hope everyone had a great Superbowl Sunday!

Swimming in San Diego

We went to San Diego for the weekend so Al could swim in the ocean and run a 10k with Ross. We had the best lunch EVER at a little place called Swamis Cafe which is actually in Encinitas. I wish it was sunny and clear like the picture below, but it was rainy all weekend.Swamis is known for their Acai Bowl which is amazing. Fresh strawberries, blueberries, bananas, blackberries, granola, cocunut, bee pollen and Acai yogurt. You have to try it next time you are in San Diego!
We went to La Jolla so Al & Ross could swim. Left to Right Al, Ross, Me, Jason, Eugene
Ross & Al getting ready for that 50 degree swim on May 2nd
Twinners in their wetsuits
The Cove

Al coming in strong
The 10k was on Saturday. I was considering the 5k, but the weather report changed my mind real fast. It was rainy, windy, and cold...all the things I don't like, so I knew made the right decision.

My favorite part is after the race when they hand out all the free drinks and energy bars that you can never find in stores. They were handing out this drink called Activate which was so cool. You twist the top and it releases a powder (like Emergen-C) into the water. I have to find it!!
Hopefully next time we are in San Diego it will be sunny and warm which is perfect weather for Sea World!!

A Day From H.......

It all began when I got us tickets to Wheel of Fortune. Who doesn't want to see Vanna White in all her pretty dresses? The tickets I had were actual tickets unlike most shows where you still have to stand in line with your tickets to see if you will even get in. The show started at 3:00PM and everyone had a good 40 years on us....I'm not kidding. They then announced that they were filming 3 episodes which means we had to sit there for 3 hours.....hahahah It was way cool at first, but they make you clap Waaay too much. Isn't there some sort of audience sound they can put in the background? They were totally using us as audience props and we should have got paid!! Here is a picture of Sony Studios where it is filmed. Al and I were both starving when we got out and decided to go eat dinner in Hollywood. Unfortunately we never made it to dinner and got in a car accident instead. I've never been in a bad car accident and I don't ever want to be again. Your entire life flashes before your eyes....it's so scary. Luckily no one was hurt except our car and the 2010 650I BMW with 26 miles on it.That's right.....26 miles and an $80,000 car. The dealer was driving it to show someone who was going to buy it. What are the chances of that? I'm not really sureThe BMW doesn't look too bad, but his airbag came out which totally sucks. Cross your fingers that our insurance covers it and we won't be paying off a car that isn't ours for the rest of our lives.

Moral of the Story....Wear your seatbelt and drive safe!! If you watch Wheel of Fortune look for us on April 16th, May 6 & 7th.

Star Watch

I've discovered the sunsets are so much prettier in L.A. when we have tons of smog. Last week Al and I went up to Scholl Canyon Golf Course to watch the sunset. So romantic
It was soooo pretty
If you look out far enough you can see downtown L.A. on the left and the ocean behind that.
Al and I finally went and had breakfast at the Griddle in Hollywood. It's impossible to get into this place on the weekends unless you want to wait an hour, so we went during the week. It was just as amazing as everyone says it is. Al got the chocolate chip cookie crusted french toast and that's exactly what it tasted like. Every bite was just as amazing as the first, but eventually you go into sugar shock and can't handle anymore. I had the huevos rancheros which balanced out the sweetness of the french toast. We both loved the griddle and will definatley be going back for seconds.
While we were watching the sunset the other night Al got the bug to go golfing, so here we are at the golf course with amazing views and another breathtaking day in California.
You can see downtown and the ocean really good in the next picture.
This random door to nowhere
Another amazing view. The ocean never gets oldNow get ready for all the exciting stuff that happened last week...... I got to meet Tory Burch at her boutique in L.A. If you are asking yourself who Tory Burch is, then you need to brush up on your designers because she has the BEST purses and shoes. She is so nice which makes me want to buy even more of her stuff...lol Anyway Jobi and I talked to her for about 5 minutes and asked her questions like what inspires her to design?? Her answer for her spring collection was artwork from Picasso. How cool is that? Also her sister designs all the houseware stuff for Anthropologie. I wish I had a creative mind like that.
My next stop was Barnes & Noble to meet Bethenny Frankel. She is on the Housewives of NYC and also wrote 2 really famous books called Naturally Thin & The Skinny Girl Dish which I bought.
She is so funny and had the hottest Christian Louboutin boots on I've ever seen.
Al can act like he wasn't excited, but I know he likes her just as much as me. After all he was the one that introduced me to the show:) Love you Al
We went into Upper Deck afterwards and saw this baseball signed by Babe Ruth for only $12,499.99. It made me think of Sandlot
We also noticed all the Tiger Woods memorabilia that was 35% off . Coincidence??
I got to meet one more of my favorite reality tv show stars.....Kim Kardashian. At this point some of you are probably thinking "Wow Whitney has way too much time on her hands and needs to find a job" Yes that is true and if you know of anything let me know:) I would love to be working full time, but until then my life consists of events like this. Jealous?? Kim was at Century City mall promoting her new shoe line called ShoeDazzle. She was supposed to be there from 1-2:30 signing autographs and taking pictures with people. The first 10 people there got free shoes, but there are always the insanely stalkerish people that show up 5 hours early to wait. She finally showed up at 1:15 and then wasted 15 more minutes doing interviews with the paparazzi. By the time I was at the front of the line it was 2:15 and some lady came over and said Kim won't be signing autographs or taking pictures anymore because we want everyone to get a turn to meet her. Ahhhhh are you kidding me? I was a little bummed, but I guess I can thank all the crazy Kim Kardashian fans that went before me for taking up all her time.
Everyone always talks about how big her butt is, so here is a picture. She is really skinny and just as pretty in person.
It's always interesting to see what kinds of fans stars attract. Kim attracts all brunette girls that look exactly like her or at least think they do. I was seriously the only blonde there...lol
Finally my chance to meet her. I got to say hi and take a picture without me in it....lame right. I like Kourtney and Khloe better anyways. She had stacks of roses and random stuff fans were bringing her. This girl I became friends with in line started crying when she met her and that's when I realized I shouldn't ask for her phone number or become friends with her on FB. I really don't get how people get that weird and crazy over stars. It's definately entertaining to watch. Now to the really big news..... Al got into the Escape From Alcatraz Triathalon!! In November he talked Ross and his dad into signing up with him. Al didn't get his name drawn in the first drawing, but they had one more drawing last week and he got in!! Now the fun begins with lots of training. This course is crazy because they take you out on a ferry and dump 1,000 people into 55 degree water to swim 1.5 miles 1 mile "warm up run" on the beach 18 mile bike ride through the hills of San Francisco, and finally the 8 mile run which ends on the sand ladder where you climb 400 steps up a cliff.
Exciting right? Really makes me not want to do one, but I will be there cheering Al, his dad, and Ross on May 2nd!! Al just got his bike and you would think he won the lottery. When he got home from work today he walked over to his bike before saying hi to me. This could be a problem...A really big problemNow for the really big news. My best friend Tonya had her baby last week. Yay!! They named him Camden William Bush and here is the sweetest picture of him.Camden has had a few struggles that have kept him in NICU the last week, but through lots of great care and prayers Tonya and Billy hopefully get to take him home tomorrow. They are going to be amazing parents and we are so excited for them. Congrats Tonya & Billy. Another picture I love that I got off FB.Now I need to convince Al that I need to go to Utah so I can meet cute little Camden.
