Our date nights are coming to a close, so I've been making a list of restaurants I want to try before baby Alex is born. On Saturday we went to this Thai restaurant in Pasadena called Daisy Mint. I loved the shabby chic atmosphere with all the mirors and chandeliers.

Rose Bowl Parade
On New Years Day we went to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena. We discovered the further down on Colorado you get the easier it is to sneak your way into the crowds and the people watching gets better and better.
Al was secretly wishing it was the actual Rose Bowl, but since the parade is free we will stick with that for now.
We had great company....Tonya and Billy.
I must say the floats are amazing to look at and definately worth the wait.
The pooper scooper peoople that got more cheers than the actual floats.

We totally lucked out and sat behing a few rows of people that had camped out the night before. I think they were all exhausted because none of them stood the entire parade which made it so nice for us.

This next float was amazing.

I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be Jesus on the next float
Ronald Reagan which was one of my favorites

PAC MAN
and last but not least Albert VI, it must be a sign!!
In Rememberance
Last week one of my sorority sisters and roomates during college passed away in a tragic car accident. I was quickly reminded of how precious life is. We never know when our time is coming. Julie was an amazing person and will be missed dearly.
Julie Ann Jorgenson 1/7/1984 ~ 1/6/2011 Julie Ann Jorgenson was born on January 7, 1984 in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Mary Jo Waters and Ron Jorgenson. Her family moved to Idaho Falls in 1990, where Julie attended school, graduating from Bonneville High School in 2002. Throughout the years, Julie was active in soccer, dance, basketball, and skiing, activities that developed her passion for fitness and health. She studied child development at the University of Utah, graduating in 2006, and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. While at school, she began her career at McCann Worldgroup, a Salt Lake City advertising agency, and quickly moved up the ladder to become a Senior Account Executive a job she absolutely loved. She was married to Eric Richins on August 12, 2005. Julie was pursuing an MBA at Westminster College and was recently honored with a "Truth Well Told" award at McCann's SLC office. Julie's immediate survivors include her mother Mary Waters and step-dad Mike Waters, her sister Rebecca Jorgenson and niece Mya (who adored Julie's blond hair), and her three brothers: Colin, Austin, and Tyler, all of Idaho Falls, ID; her father, Ron R. Jorgenson of Boulder, CO; and her former husband, Eric Richins, of Bountiful, Utah. Julie lived her life with passion. She loved skiing, hiking, biking, and running in the Wasatch canyons with her friends and in the Colorado Rockies with her father. When she wasn't working or studying, she was shopping, dining, and traveling and always giggling with her amazing circle of friends. She cherished the moments spent with her aunts, uncles, cousins, and especially her grandparents and great-grandmother. Julie was a born again believer in Christ and loved her family with all of her heart. She was the best big sister ever, a loyal and loving daughter, and a generous and kind friend. She will be missed forever. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. (MST) Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Capital Church, 1010 E 700 S, Salt Lake City, UT. A memorial in Julie Ann Jorgenson's name has been established at the America First Credit Union.

Frolf
This post goes out to my brother Ryan....he loves Frisbee Golf. When he's not at school he's playing a round. While we were in Utah Al played a round with him and somehow I got talked into being a Caddy.
It was a cold morning to be at the park, but at least the sun was out.
This was only hole #5 or 6.....sooo many more to go
These are some sweet frisbee golf skills to have both feet off the ground while he throws the frisbee.
I got bored halfway through so I took some random pictures.
Introducing the #1 Caddy. The only pregnant caddy that carrys a backpack full of frisbees for her husband. That's dedication.
but, no one could have more dedication than Ryan.....don't forget to salt the tees.
Thanks for showing us the frisbee golf ropes Ryan. You are pretty impressive out there.
The End Of 2010
For New Years Eve we went to a famous restaurant in Hollywood called Yamashiro. It was built in 1914 and sits above Hollywood Blvd on a Hill (right above the Magic Castle mentioned here).
While we were waiting for our table Al noticed some awards hanging on the wall for "Best View." We didn't see any for food but, I must admit it was a pretty awesome view and would probably be even cooler during the day when you could see the ocean.
I'm not really a fan of prix fixe menus, but we thought it might be a fun way to celebrate NYE plus we had good company....Tonya and Billy!!
My wedge salad that made me feeling hungrier after I ate it.
My second course which was tuna and yellowtail on fried crispy rice. The only sushi I've had in months and it made me miss it even more.
We had one of the best seats at Yamashiro which had an amazing view.
We celebrated Billys birthday that is in February.
and last but not least yummy dessert. I give Yamashiro 3 stars for food and 5 for atmosphere.

After dinner we still had a few hours to kill before midnight so we decided to go to Universal City Walk to see fireworks. What Tonya and I didn't see in fine print is that parking was $40, crazy I know. Whats even crazier is that we all paid it.
Waiting, Waiting, and more waiting for that special NYE kiss.
The long awaited fireworks turned out to be sparklers on the ground. They were sooooo lame which is suprising because you think a theme park would know how to put on good fireworks. Next year I'm keeping my $40 and going to Disneyland!!
Happy New Year 2011!!

Christmas Celebrations
On Christmas Eve Al went snowboarding with his sister Lexi and brother Trevor.
While I got left behind I went to the mall with my mom and looked for the dreaded maternity clothes that I told myself I wouldn't buy. Motherhood Maternity was so helpful and let me try on a belly to be band to see how I big I would be in 2 months. I couldn't help but laugh when I strapped this thing on.
Here is my expected size at 9 months.
We went to Temple Square that night with my mom and Ryan to see the lights. Apparently all of Utah goes on Christmas Eve because I've never seen so many people there. We even saw a proposal at the reflecting pond.
Al really put those 2 coats I packed for him to use. I don't know how he survived without a coat.

and our yearly picture in front of the temple. Next year it will be with a baby!!
Christmas Day was crazy. Splitting time between 2 families is never easy. We started the morning off at my moms and had breakfast.
Look at those perfect teeth
Our next stop was Al's parents house where we had our 2nd breakfast and got to exchange presents with each other.
Al showing his mom how to use her new camera.
and Al IV in his new Lululemon shirt.
Our next stop was Als grandparents where all his aunts, uncles, and their kids go for dinner. I think there was 45 people there. After that we went to my Aunt Mary's house in Layton for a 2nd dinner (I think I gained 5lbs that day). Everytime Blake sees me he asks me for gum, so this year I bought him his very own gumball machine!!
