My 2 Front Teeth

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!!

When Alex's bottom teeth came in he didnt really get fussy, but these beauties have given him fevers and runny noses:( One day I bought him a piece of beef jerky and he chewed on it for at least an hour. Way better than a cold teether!! He looks so grown up with his new front teeth.

Eight Months

At Eight Months Alex is.....
Will crawl to my feet and put his hands out for me to pick him up.
Sits in shopping carts and high chairs at restaurants which is so nice. Has learned how to stand in some shopping carts and refuses to sit down.
Loves watching Baby Einstein. He will be fussy or tired and the minute you put on Baby Einstein his eyes glue to the t.v., he crawls over to it and stands up right below the t.v. and watches it (that has to be great for his eyes).
Knows when I put him in his crib that means nap or bedtime and then he crys.
Loves back scratches/tickles
Drinks water out of a sippy cup
Gave him apple juice a couple of times in a bottle and loved it. Why won't he drink breast milk out of a bottle?
Loves the cereal puffs that dissolve in his mouth. Will eat them as long as you will keep putting them in his mouth.
Pulls himself up on anything and stands. Has let go a few times and stood by himself for a couple seconds.
On November 10th he finally started eating rice cereal. I mixed with apple juice a few times and he loved that. Still not really into fruits or veggies. Baby steps with food.
Teaching him how to smell things
Refuses to wear anything on his feet. Every time I put socks or shoes on he somehow gets them off.
Laughs when you scare him
Laughs when dogs bark. Saw his first cat and was mesmerized.
Both of his top teeth are coming in which has made him a little fussy. He's been really congested and had a runny nose.
Learning how to use his fingers...can almost put a puff in his mouth. Likes to feel and scratch fabrics and anything he hasn't felt before.
Knows what the Hooter Hyder is and get's excited every time I pull it out.
Sleeping better at night, but still wakes up once to eat.
Figured out how to drink out of a straw.
Growing more hair, but still looks bald since he's so blonde.
Loves bath time. He tries to jump out of my arms while I'm running the water. Still likes to lay on his sponge and kick water until I don't want to get wet anymore.
Loves girls and will smile and bury his face in my arms when they say hi. It's so cute!
Drove to Utah and he did better than I thought he would for 1o hours in a car seat. Next time we are flying.
Still in the Mom ONLY phase especially at night and when he's hungry. It really is so sweet that he loves me so much....lol Hopefully it will always be like that :)

This baby won't sit still unless Baby Einstein is on. He is constantly crawling, standing, or playing with something. It was difficult to get a good picture of him so I can only imagine what next month will be like. He is very inquisitive and observant to everything around him. We are the best of friends and I'm so thankful I get to spend every day with him.

Thanksgiving 2011

We spent Thanksgiving in Utah this year. While Al was playing Turkey Bowl Alex had a little rice cereal to start Thanksgiving off right.

I figured this was the only year he would wear a shirt that said Thankful for Mommy:)

Grandma Ranes

Our first dinner was with my family at my Aunt Liz's house.

My Cousin Blake is 7 years old and gave Alex a ton of his toys he doesn't play with anymore. One of them was a tool set. How awesome are these goggles?

The only Thanksgiving picture I got of Al and I. I've been slacking with pictures and blogging. I can't believe I didn't even take one of the Turkey?

Blake showing Alex his train.

Our second dinner was at Al's Grandparents.

Cute little Alice who is Al's Great Grandma.

All the cousins making their Oreo Turkeys.

I saw this on Pinterest and wanted to make one so I'm glad they did this.

Alex destroying the Black Friday ads.

It was a great Thanksgiving and I'm glad we were able to spend it with our families.

Splendid

On Friday Jenny and I went to the sample sale in Downtown LA. We just happened to stumble onto the Ella Moss and Splendid Sample Sale that only happens twice a year. I've never seen anything like this. It was madness!!

The sale was on the top floor of a business building and the entire room was full of racks of clothes. When we walked into the room there were hundreds of women grabbing items off the racks. They had club music blasting so, the only natural thing to do was join them and start grabbing clothes with them. Poor Alex had no choice, but to join me and Jenny in what turned out to be a 3 hour adventure....lol Notice in the next picture how Jenny is showing me a shirt, the kids clothes were the best!!

There were signs posted everywhere that said you couldn't try on the clothes, but of course no one was listening.

Here is the pile of clothes we tried on. Since there aren't dressing rooms or mirrors we had to take pictures of each other and trust each others opinions :)

Alex had a blast.....he also had a nap, feeding, and 2 diaper changes while we were there. So glad he loves shopping like his mom.

Our final choices

Randomly my cousin Jess was in LA and just happened to be in the Fashion District too, so we met up for a bit and said hi.

Alex in his new Splendid shirt. He's all about touching fabrics and textures right now. He loves how soft his new Splendid shirts are.

Busy Day

We went with some moms in our new ward to kidspace children's museum. Alex is still too small for everything, but it was fun to visit with everyone and Alex loved watching all the kids run around.

Look whose sock is almost off? Alex hates socks and shoes and always manages to take them off. His toes are going to freeze next week in Utah, but maybe that will teach him to leave them on.

The awesome group of girls I went with from our new ward.

Kidspace wasn't enough for 1 day so we went to Disneyland with our new friends the Dannels. We are now Annual Pass Holders, HOORAY!!

Al's favorite ride Toy Story Mania, next time he's leaving his phone in the car.

Jenny watched Alex so we could go on Tower of Terror, yay!!

I was dying to see the castle turn to winter, but Mr Al haaaaad to get home to play basketball. Hopefully we can go back in the next couple weeks to see all the Christmas festivities!!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Al and I thought it would be fun to go as a family to see the tree lighting at the Grove. Little did we know all of LA was going too. I have no idea how we found parking, but luckily it wasn't close so we could make a quick escape.

The first spot we were in you couldn't see or hear a thing and I was dying to see Colbie Caillat perform.

We did get to see it snow which people were going nuts about.

Alex asking himself where am I now?

The second spot we found was right by the tree, but you still couldn't hear or see any of the concert so we decided to leave early and miss the tree lighting...lol Good thing because apparently there were riots and lots of other scary things happening. We will go back to see the tree once the hype dies down:)

Scholarship Dinner

I got invited to attend the Scholarship dinner at the USC Kappa Kappa Gamma house. I don't remember Kappas scholarship dinner being a big deal when I was a Kappa at the U, but Greek Row at USC goes all out with everything, so I should know better. Kappas colors are light blue and dark blue hence all the blue balloons :)

How cute are the lights and balloons! I want to live in this house minus the 80 girls.

Dinner

and Nancy O Dell as the speaker who was also a Kappa. She gave an awesome speech and had a Q&A afterwards. I'm glad someone got to the gossip and asked her if Kim Kardashians wedding was a publicity stunt. She didn't say it was, but she didn't say it wasn't :)

She was so inspiring and just as pretty in person. Next year I'm hoping they have Kate Spade speak with purses as the favor:)
